Blue Mountains fiddler extraordinaire Simon Watts teamed up with guitarist and producer Glenn Skarratt to record a CD in 2008 and musical magic started to happen in the studio. Bridging musical styles from Irish to Jazz, Bluegrass to Latin with a touch of rock and blues, the resulting release, ‘The Weeping Tree Paddock’ solidified the pair’s resolve to create an entertaining mix of all the different styles of music they loved to play.
Simon Watts, as well as being a Blue Mountains identity, is possibly best known as the slightly eccentric but loveable fiddler from country and bush band Handpicked and has won awards in Tamworth for his performance and great fiddle playing. Glenn Skarratt, also from the Blue Mountains, is a fingerstyle and flatpicking guitarist and mandolinist with an eclectic batch of songs and tunes collected over many years of playing in bands around the country. Also accomplished in many musical styles, Glenn likes to blur the boundaries of roots music putting Jazz into Celtic, Blues into Folk and Funk into Country making his own blend as he goes.
